Consider a bear proof cooler, especially for car or truck camping. Certainly not necessary, but it is a precaution that may be appropriate for many. If your cooler is on its last leg and you are trying to find an enhancement, there are always approved bear tested coolers that are sure to keep your food and refreshments cold and the bears locked out.

Family camping excursions are just one of my fondest recollections from my earlier childhood days.
